Three fighters of Kurdish-led forces defect to Turkish-backed forces in northern Syria

MARE, Syria – Turkish-backed militants have claimed that three fighters of Kurdish-led forces have defected to the Free Syrian Army at Mare’ in northern Syria.

This comes as the Turkish military and its Syrian proxies prepare to storm the Kurdish-held canton of Afrin in northern Syria in an operation to supposedly defeat terrorist forces.

The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) are a branch of the Turkey-based Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), that Ankara and Washington both consider as a terrorist organization, although the latter contradictory supports, arms and funds the YPG.

This also comes as Turkey claims to have notified Damascus about the operation, a charge it denies. Full details can be read here.
