IDLIB, Syria – The three-way battle between the Syrian Army, ISIS and Al-Qaeda affiliated jihadist forces has continued across the Idlib axis (southern Idlib countryside-northern Hama countryside-southern Aleppo countryside).
As the Syrian Army was smashing the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Nusra Front and their allies on this axis, ISIS took advantage and launched an offensive against the Al-Nusra Front, capturing a host of sites from the rival terrorist organization.
The sites captured by ISIS are Al-Musayyatibah, Rasm Madahy, Al-Dahiriyah, Al-Harsh, Tal ash-Shur, Maliha Kabirah, Khayriyah, Khayriyah Kabirah, Rasm Al-Barjis and Ghazilah.
The retreat by armed rebel groups has left a territorial vacuum open in northeast Hama and southern Aleppo which ISIS is now exploiting to gain control over as much land as possible before it is completely encircled by pro-government forces, Al-Masdar News reported.
