Included in the preparation for the ground invasion that begun just moments ago, was the air strike on Menagh airbase yesterday, used by US forces to supply and arm the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

The YPG are the Syrian branch of the Turkey-based Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) that not only Turkey considers as a terrorist organization, but also the US, demonstrating a contradiction that they consider the PKK as terrorists, but arm and support the YPG.

By striking this airbase, the Turkish military aims to halt all US aid to the YPG in Afrin, directly challenging Washington’s interests in that part of Syria.
