ANKARA, Turkey – The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has criticized the military operation of the AKP ruling government against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia in Syria, in a statement signed by the central committee of TKP.
The TKP highlighted that the war against Syria is an imperialist game, in which the AKP is using to its advantage, despite the operation in Syria having “nothing to do with any national interest or security issue of Turkey.”
The TKP questioned why the AKP says little about “the military existence of NATO in Turkey, but argues about a threat in Syria.”
The TKP said that the Turkish people “cannot be deceived with heroism or nationalist demagogy. Syria must be cleared of imperialist projects, interest conflicts between big powers and the fundamentalist powers of the region. It is the Syrian people who will do this.”
All the communist parties in Turkey, Lebanon and Syria are against the war on the Syrian government. Despite regional communists supporting the Syrian government, majority of the Western Left supports its overthrow and deny their is an imperialist aggression against the sovereign state. Rather, they simplify the conflict as one as a supposed class struggle, despite the jihadist terrorists having no concept of class.
