Foreign exchange reserves of Ukraine are reliant on external loans. This was stated on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel NewsOne by former Minister of Economy, Viktor Suslov.
According to him, it would be correct to reduce the volume of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, but this is no longer possible. If Kiev stops cooperating with the IMF, it will stop receiving support from the European Union and other international partners, Suslov said.
“You can see the annex to the law on the state budget. It is expected to receive huge sums for infrastructure re-engineering projects and financing of energy supply. Even the projects of construction of the metro are tied to external financing. These are the projects that should be implemented at the expense of the World Bank, and they will not be if there is no cooperation with the IMF.” he said.
