AFRIN, Syria – The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) have released footage of their fighters launching a missile at a tank belong to Turkish-led forces.
One problem however. The tank was in fact a fake tank made of cardboard, effectively meaning the YPG fighter wasted a very valuable and expensive missile.
Fake tanks made out of wood was popularized during the NATO bombardment of Serbia during the 1990’s. Serb forces would place fake tanks making NATO bomb fake sites.
Intense battles are occurring between Turkish-led forces and the YPG in Syria’s northwest canton of Afrin. Turkey considers the YPG a terrorist organization and want to eliminate them from the border between Turkey and Syria.
