TEL AVIV, Occupied Palestine – Thousands protested in the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv, Saturday, against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and political corruption after a recording of his 26-year-old son, Yair Netanyahu, was released telling an Israeli gas tycoon’s son that “my dad arranged $20 billion for your dad,” during an argument in a strip club over 400 shekels spent on a prostitute.
Protesters marched through central Tel Aviv, pausing outside the home of gas tycoon Kobi Maimon, in what is the seventh straight demonstration against political corruption by members of the Israeli government.
“I want to have a civilized state and not one where twice a week the prime minister is investigated by the police,” stated one protester.
Protesters also clashed with a group of right-wing, Israeli-government supporters with police separating the two groups.
This round of protests was sparked off in December 2017, after a bill was passed preventing police from recommending indictments at the end of investigations amid an ongoing corruption probe involving Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.
The recordings of Yair Netanyahu arguing with the son of gas tycoon Kobi Maimon over 400 shekels spent on a prostitute, was released last Monday, in which the Israeli PM’s son can be heard saying “Bro, you have to be nice to me. Bro, my dad got your dad a sweet deal, he fought for it at the Knesset,” adding “My dad arranged $20 billion for your dad, and you’re whining with me about 400 shekels.”
