AFRIN, Syria – Footage has emerged of Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters capture militants belonging to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the northwest Syrian canton of Afrin yesterday.

This came as Turkish-led forces captured Barsaya mountain yesterday. In their sweeping of the mountain, Turkish-led forces also found narcotics belonging to the YPG. Details of the narcotics found and the strategic and pivotal mountaintop captured can be read here.
This spells even more bad news for the YPG who according to the Turkish military have had nearly 600 deaths in only nine days of combat.
The irony comes as it was reminded that Kurds in Afrin supported a NATO intervention against the Syrian government and expressed support for the FSA in 2011. Details of this irony can be found here.
