The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has commented on the intention of the US to convene in the coming days, at a special meeting of the UN Security Council and the UN Human Rights Council in connection with the events in Iran.

The US permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley, earlier on Tuesday told reporters that the United States will convene emergency sessions of the Security Council and the UN Human Rights Council on the situation in Iran.

“There is no doubt that the US delegation has something to tell the world. For example, Nikki Haley can share the American experience in dispersing protest actions, to tell in detail how, for example, there were mass arrests and suppression of the Occupy Wall Street movement or in Ferguson” wrote Zakharova in her Facebook account, hinting at a violent dispersal of protesters.

In large cities of Iran, among which is Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan and Rasht, since December 28, mass protests have taken place. President Hassan Rouhani said that the protests are caused by domestic problems in the country, as well as by incitement from abroad.
