BAGHDAD, Iraq – 17-year-old German Linda W. from Pulsnitz who became an ISIS sniper was sentenced by an Iraqi court in Baghdad on Sunday to six-years in prison for being a part of the jihadist group.
She was guilty of two charges, one for illegally entering Syria where she received one year in prison, and a further five years for being a part of ISIS.
As Linda is legally a minor the trial was without a public hearing and was before a juvenile court in Baghdad, Al-Sura News reported.
German officials from the embassy in Baghdad were present during the trial and observed the proceedings, the report further explained.
She was first arrested as a 16-year-old in July 2017 in Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city.
Linda told several German news outlets that she wanted to return to Germany as soon as possible as she regretted joining ISIS.
