BREAKING: Pro-Syrian government forces will enter Kurdish-YPG held Afrin within ‘hours’ – reports
DAMASCUS, Syria – The Syrian Army are to enter the Kurdish-controlled Afrin region in northwest Syria in ‘mere hours’, according to state-owned media the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
This comes as Turkish-led forces continue to invade the Afrin region which is controlled by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).
Yesterday, Kurdish officials confirmed that the Syrian Army and YPG had reached an agreement to allow pro-government forces into the region and take over local administration.
This will be the first time since 2012 that pro-Syrian government forces have had any presence in the region.
