Forgiveness Sunday is celebrated on February 18th in the Orthodox Church. On this day, believers ask for forgiveness of all those who they may have hurt or mistreated.

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill performed the Vespers of forgiveness in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and after the service, he asked forgiveness of himself.

He noted that while being the ruling bishop of Moscow, he could have, willingly or unwillingly, offend believers or non-believers in some way. In this regard, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church asked forgiveness from all people.

“Bless and forgive me, fathers, brothers and sisters, I am a sinner,” said the patriarch.

He pointed out that there is no other means to resolve conflicts and normalize human relations, except to ask forgiveness from the offended and forgive your abusers. Patriarch Kirill added that the Lord does not respond to anything as mercifully as when people forgive others.
