KIRKUK, Iraq – ISIS has proven to still be a deadly terrorist group in Syria by ambushing a large number of fighters from the predominately Shi’ite Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) in Iraq’s Kirkuk province.
The resulting attack saw ISIS attack a PMU convoy of at least eight vehicles at al-Riyadh resulting in the disappearance of at least 27 fighters.
The attack has meant that the PMU went on high alert in nearby Samara city.

Most significantly, besides the lost weapons, is that six of the 27 missing fighters were guards and commanders, including a top commander known as “Tabha Abu Adnan.”
The PMU has played a major role in clearing the majority of Iraq from ISIS.
