ISIS still operating in areas of Syria claimed to be clear of the terrorist organization – report

DAMASCUS, Syria – In the above map, Eastern Mediterranean News (EMN) marked the areas which are supposedly to be under control of Syrian government and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). 

However, EMN explained from their twitter that the reality is that the numbered places on the map are still under ISIS control and have continued ISIS activity: 

1: AbulAziz mountains in Hasakah province. 

2: Al-Bishri mountains

3: Al-Mahasah

EMN explained that the most important area is the Bishri mountain because it is a triangle and connects the Raqqa countryside to the Deir Ezzor and Homs countryside. 

The Mahasah mountains is the area where the retreated ISIS fighters from Al-Qaryatain hides and has regularl Russian airstrikes.

Map creators of Syria usually put government-controlled areas in Red, SDF/YPG in yellow, ISIS in black and other jihadists organizations in green.
