DEIR EZZOR, Syria – A commander of the Kurdish-led and US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has openly threatened to battle the Syrian Army and steal towns from government forces in a video released and republished by Eastern Mediterranean News.
Mash’el Al-Hemsh, from the Deir Ezzor military council, warned the Syrian Army that the SDF will capture Al-Tabiyah and Al-Salihiyah towns located in the eastern desert province of Deir Ezzor.
It is not sure what prompted the commander to make the warning, but it is known that the US remains a constant destabalizing force between the Syrian Army and the SDF who are led by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).
While the SDF threatens the Syrian Army in Deir Ezzor province, the YPG in the northwest Syrian canton of Afrin have begged the Syrian Army for help in fighting against Turkish-led forces who are trying to expel the militia from this part of Syria.
