Mass raid on extremists – Turkey detains 48 terrorists in Ankara and Istanbul

The Turkish police have detained 17 ISIL operatives on suspicion of preparing terrorist attacks in Ankara.
Another 31 terrorists were detained during a series of special operations in three districts of Istanbul. According to the Turkish intelligence, all detainees are foreign nationals.
Since the start of the conflict in neighbouring Syria, Turkish law enforcement officers have detained more than 5,000 terror suspects. Of these, it deported 3,290 people – nationals of 95 countries.
Another 38,000 identified persons are prohibited from entering Turkey. There are 780 people currently in custody, including 350 foreigners, some of them already convicted for terrorism.
