RAQQA, Syria – Kurdish children are heading to the front lines to fight Turkish-led forces in Syria’s northwest Afrin canton, according to the founder of Eastern Mediterranean News.

EMN claimed that the children, some as young as 12, were being transferred from Raqqa to Afrin where the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, the Syrian branch of the Turkey-based Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) are battling the Turkish military and their Syrian militant proxies.

“A new batch of children, some of them still 12, are heading from #Raqqa towards the frontline of #Afrin to support the #PKK,” he said on his Twitter.

Although this cannot be verified by Fort Russ News at this time, it is known by their own admissions that the YPG has used child soldiers in the past.
