The lawyer of the World Anti-Doping Agency ‘informant ‘Grigory Rodchenkov, Jim Walden, has commented on the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sports – which has justified the right to competition of many innocent Russian athletes. “It will be hard for clean athletes to fight for victory now” he said.
“The truthfulness of Rodchenkov’s words was confirmed by judicial evidence, testimonies of other informants and restored data from the secret database of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory, in which thousands of classified dirty tests were featured,” Rodchenkov’s lawyer told The New York Times.
“The court’s position only inspires swindlers and reduces the chances of clean athletes to win. For the corrupt Russian doping system, this is another point that has been won dishonestly,” Walden added.
Today, the Sports Arbitration Court in Switzerland abolished their lifetime disqualification of 28 Russian athletes and recognized their previous medals as legitimate at the Sochi Olympics.
As for Rodchenkov – his mental health has been widely questioned, previous criminal record publicised, and the incentive of a financial reward from US special services made known.
