AFRIN, Syria – In a video published on the social media accounts of Turkish-backed forces fighting the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northwest Syria, militants can be seen raiding houses and stealing chickens.
The video was taken in Sorkê village of Afrin’s Rajo where intense battles between Turkish-backed Syrian proxies and the YPG has been occurring since January 20.
The militants are head in the video justifying stealing the animals because they are “the property of Kurds, and therefore halal [permissable]” for them.
Many citizens who live on the border line state that their homes have been pillaged by the gangs and their animals have been stolen, according to ANF News.
