AFRIN, Syria – A source for the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) is to blame for Syrian government forces not yet entering Afrin in northwest Syria.
“Russia is responsible for the failure to reach a deal with the government up until now,” a YPG source told Syria Live Maps.
“Russia wants us to lay down our weapons. The government wants to fight alongside us,” the source added.

The YPG want Syrian government forces to enter the YPG-held region to halt the advancements made by Turkish-backed forces.
Turkey considers the YPG to be a terrorist organization and is attempting to purge the militant group from this part of Syria.
