BREAKING: Russian airplane crashes in Syria, dozens killed
Russian transport aircraft An-26 has crashed in Syria, reports the Ministry of Defense.
At 15:00 Moscow time today, the plane crashed a mere 500 meters from the airbase in Khmeimim. All 26 passengers and 6 crew members have been killed.
A special commission of the Defense Ministry will be set up to investigate the disaster.

“The cause of the plane crash, according to preliminary information, could be a technical malfunction,” the defense department commented. This story is being updated.
