EAST GHOUTA, Syria – The elite Tiger Forces of the Syrian Army have made significant progress today by liberating the town of Saqba in the southern pocket of East Ghouta to the east of Damascus city center.
Yesterday the operation to liberate the town began with Syrian Army forces liberating half the town by days end. The sudden stop to the offensive against terrorist organizations operating in Saqba was to allow civilians to flee the war zone.
The liberation of Saqba puts the Syrian Army in a prime position now to continue their offensive and move towards Irbin, a major town in this part of Syria.
It is also expected that Kafr Batna, another town that is about 50% under Syrian Army control, will be liberated by the end of the day.
