The total cost of projects that Chinese investors intend to realize in Russia’s Far East exceeds $ 30 billion, said Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui at the final meeting of the board of the Ministry of Economic Development in Vladivostok.
Most actively developing cooperation is in the oil and gas industry, agriculture and finance.
Today, China is the main source of investment in the Far East – 85% of all foreign investment comes from China.
Earlier, the Minister for the Development of the Far East, Alexander Galushka, noted that in the Far Eastern Federal District more than 20 investment projects worth $ 4 billion of Chinese capital are currently being implemented. Another $26 billion are in planning. As a result of China’s investment, 77,000 new jobs will be created in Russia’s Far East. The problem is, Russia is one of the most under-populated countries on earth, relative to its size. Therefore, labour power is likely to come from China itself.
