NATO quarrel: Turkey warns France not to enter Syria
Ankara has called on Paris to abandon any hasty steps in Syria, as stated by the Turkish Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli.
As the Parisien newspaper reported, referring to the representative of the SDF delegation, the French authorities have decided to send in their troops to help the Kurdish militia in Syrian Manbije. However, as reported in the French Foreign Ministry, Paris does not plan to conduct a new operation in the north of Syria. These statements seem contradictory.

According to the Turkish minister, in view of the almost complete elimination of the threat of the terrorist organization of the IG (banned in the Russian Federation), there are no legitimate justifications for the deployment of military contingents of foreign states on Syrian territory in Syria.
“In other words, if France tries to deploy its military contingent in the north of Syria, it will be an illegal step from the point of view of international law. France’s actions can be regarded as an attempt to occupy Syrian lands, ” Canikli said.
