MOSCOW, Russia. The President of Russia cannot and should not follow the statements of all the staff of the presidential administration, said Vladimir Putin in an interview with the American television channel NBC.
The Presidential administration employs 2000 people.
Putin cited the example of his spokesman Dmitry Peskov: “He has at times said some rubbish (the Russian word he used is “blizzard”) that I saw on TV and I thought: what is he saying? Who asked him to?” But, the president believes that Peskov has “his own job” that he’s capable of doing.
Putin is surprised that he is considered capable of controlling everything. In response to the request by journalist Megyn Kelly to comment on the statement of the special representative of the Russian president Andrei Krutskikh in 2016, Putin replied that he had no idea of what was said. “You ask him then what he meant, do you really think that I control everything?”
Krutskikh, at the Forum on International Security, threatened that Russia is “on the verge of speaking with the Americans in a language they understand.”
Putin has repeatedly stated that he is not responsible for each and every individual statement made by Russian officials.
