Putin, Trump agree that an arms race is undesirable
MOSCOW, Russia – Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Wednesday that both Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in their telephone conversation on March 20 said that they did not want an arms race between the two countries.
“In their conversation the two leaders agreed that any arms races would be undesirable,” Peskov said.
He did explain that arms control discussions were not held however.

“It was not discussed,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin made the conclusion that “Washington had turned an attentive ear to the president’s message to the Federal Assembly and the later statements that Russia has no intention to be dragged into an arms race.”
