The President of Russia Vladimir Putin said that Moscow will not reciprocate Kiev for the non-admission of citizens of the Russian Federation to vote in the Ukraine. “We will not respond with any restrictions, to the contrary, we will do everything to make Ukrainians feel at home in Russia,” the head of state said, calling the Ukrainians a fraternal people.
At the same time, the Russian leader called the situation disgraceful: “This is disgraceful, it is a violation of all generally recognized international norms.”
On election day, the authorities in the Russian consulate in Odessa, Kharkov, Lviv and did not let Russian citizens vote. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the decision of Ukraine is unprecedented, contrary to international human rights standards, in particular, the provisions of the Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of 1950, and does not fit into generally accepted notions of civilized countries.
