DEIR EZZOR, Syria – A report has emerged that the Syrian Army are on the verge of taking on the US-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in eastern Syria to liberate oil fields in the region.

The report made by Syrian journalist Eyad al-Hosain claimed that the Syrian Army are already mobilizing their forces on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in the eastern desert province of Deir Ezzor.

The purpose of the operation, according to Al-Hosain, is to liberate the oil fields being occupied by the US-backed forces.

All the oil fields in question are located on the eastern side of the Euphrates River, and no further details have been given by any other sources.

This comes as US President Donald Trump announced that American forces will “soon” begin leaving Syria. It is not known whether this is related to Trump’s announcement.
