SINJAR, Iraq – Turkish state media has claimed that the Turkish military has killed more than 67 militants of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.
The claim was made as Turkey has begun operations against the PKK in the Kurdish provinces of northern Iraq.
However, there has been to evidence to back their claiming, leaving many experts to speculate that the number is most likely far lower.
Turkey considers the PKK to be a terrorist organization, as does Washington. However, despite Washington recognizing the PKK as a terrorist organization, it supports the PKK’s Syrian branch, the People’s Protection Units (YPG). This has been a major cause of hostilities between the US and Turkey.
