The First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Irina Gerashchenko, has explained why the Ukraine will not expel Russian diplomats as per their European counterparts.

“Firstly, there is no Russian ambassador in Ukraine and there is no Ukrainian ambassador to Russia. Our diplomatic relations are reduced to a critical minimum, the embassies have just a few diplomats and consuls.”

The vice-speaker of the Ukrainian parliament stressed that if the Russian consuls were expelled, Moscow would respond symmetrically and “Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia would be left without any help.”

“Do you really want this?” she wondered.

The first to  expel  Russian diplomats was  the Great Britain. Prime Minister Teresa May said that Russia is highly likely to be responsible for the poisoning of the spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter. At the EU summit on March 22-23, May tried to convince the European colleagues to do likewise. Germany, France and the United States supported the accusations of London. It is supposed that Russian diplomats will be expelled from Washington on March 26.
