US ignores the UN resolution on Syria – Lavrov
Western partners are ignoring the provisions of UN Security Council resolution 2401, which require all Syrian parties to agree on a ceasefire, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters.
“Our Western partners prefer to ignore this paragraph, and they insist that the Syrian government unilaterally cease hostilities and that Russia ceases to support these military operations – although it is the Syrian leadership, with our support, that aims to suppress Al-Nusra. This is a terrorist organization which, in accordance with the resolution adopted in the Security Council, is not covered by the proposal to cease hostilities against – the Russian Foreign Minister added.

The UN Security Council adopted resolution 2401, which requires all parties to end the clashes and provide a humanitarian break for at least 30 days throughout Syria. Militants continue shelling, which means civilians are too afraid to utilise the humanitarian corridor.
