British Prime Minister Teresa May has stated that Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov “is not worthy of his post. ”
“Teresa, Lavrov is a Russian minister, not a British one, and it is the President of Russia who decides whether he is worthy or not,” Zakharova stated on Facebook. “I understand that you would like to think differently, but your Minister is Boris Johnson,” she added.
The British Prime Minister made a loud statement that Russia was involved in the poisoning of ex-GRU officer Sergei Skripal in London “with a high degree of probability”.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called this statement a “circus show.” They stressed that the British authorities did not provide any evidence or an official request to investigate the Skripal case.
May announced that London will expatriate 23 Russian diplomats, as well as suspend all high-level bilateral contacts and withdraw the invitation of the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to visit London.
The Russian Foreign Ministry is due to make a statement shortly, in relation to the comments on Lavrov and the fact that the royal family will not attend the FIFA World Cup, which is due to take place in a number of months.
