Israel produced photographic evidence which supposedly proved the presence of “80,000 Shia militants in Syria under Iranian control”, at a United Nations Security Council session from New York on Thursday.
The Israeli government has repeatedly urged the United States to quit the Iran nuclear deal.
It views the Islamic Republic as a threat to regional security.
This is because Iran and Shi’ite Muslims have consistently called for the dismantling of the Zionist entity known as Israel while Sunni fundamentalists supported by Saudi Arabia have no such interest and would rather fight Shi’ites. Saudi Arabia has begun warming ties with Israel. It is for this reason that Israel finds Iran a threat to its existence.
