German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has called on Russian and America to seek a solution to the conflict in Syria together. “The Great Powers have a great responsibility, the first step must be done by Putin and Trump in relation to these world events,” says Steinmeier.
According to him, if Washington and Moscow “do not find ways to on the Syrian issue together, the chances of improving the situation in Syria will be zero.”
“Today we have moved to a new stage in the aggravation of Russian-German relations,” Steinmeier added.
Meanwhile, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Saturday, called the US and its allies action “hooliganism” in international relations.
“Provocation, false accusations, false verdict, punishment. Do you really want to conduct international affairs like this ?!” – he wondered. As Nebenzia noted, “this is hooliganism, and it is by no means trivial, given that it is a question of key nuclear powers.”
The Russian permanent representative accused the American side of disregard for the UN Charter and in undermining the credibility of the Security Council of the organization.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador Nikki Haley said that Russia is distorting the facts about what is happening in Syria .
