Dear reader,
Yes this is not in our usual line, but MMA fans, and Emilianenko fans, simply have to rejoice. The old PRIDE Champion and the UFC champion never met in their prime, and this was to settle who actually was the Champ. We are simply thrilled.                                                                          — Tom Winter

Fedor was able to defeat Frank Mir in the first minute of the fight, knocking out his opponent on the 49th second. The referee stopped the fight when Emelianenko finished Mir after the knockdown.

The match started well for the American – he got to Fedor and squeezed him at the ring wall, but he could not develop the initial success.

For 41-year-old Emelianenko, this victory was the 37th in his career with five defeats. After the resumption of his career in 2015, the Russian fighter won a third victory in four fights. The 38-year-old lost his 12th fight with 18 wins.

The 38-year-old Frank Mir had 18 wins and 11 losses during his active career. He had been the champion of the UFC, then left the organization after a scandal because of the failure of the doping test.
