Mikhail Emanov, a fourth-year cadet of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots, was able to land an L-39 training aircraft, whose engine shut down.

The incident occurred during a training flight. After takeoff from the airfield in the city of Maikop, at an altitude of 200 meters, a bird got caught in the aircraft.

Evaluating the situation, the cadet decided not to eject but land the aircraft in a field.

“The cadet Emanov successfully carried out an emergency landing, as a result of which he himself was not injured and saved the academy expensive aviation equipment. Thanks to the pilot’s professional actions, the aircraft received only minor damage and will be used for its intended purpose after technical maintenance,” the Ministry of Defense explained.

Emanov will be presented with an award for courage.
