On Easter, Patriarch Kirill to spend time with those imprisoned for life


Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill will visit  prison in Moscow on Easter Sunday to spend time with  those sentenced to life imprisonment.

The Russian Orthodox Church traditionally visits various social institutions during the days of Easter and the Nativity of Christ. This year on January 7 the patriarch visited a center for the homeless and last year for Easter, together with the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova, the Children’s Clinical Hospital.

“On April 8, Patriarch Kirill will visit Detention Unit 2 of the Federal Service for the Execution of Sentences (Butyrka Prison). He plans to meet and communicate with convicts, whom the patriarch will present Easter gifts,” the press statement said.

Christianity generally teaches that Jesus Christ forgave all, and God those who show repentance – however, the law must comes first in societies that are yet to master the way of the Holy Books, whichever ones they adhere to.
