Russia creates aviation squads for the World Cup 2018

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) of Russia has created aviation squads in all Russian cities, where the games of the World Cup will take place, the deputy head of EMERCOM, Vladlen Aksyonov said.

“Aviation groups of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia have been established in all the cities that will host the events of the championship, this includes reconnaissance routes, landing sites in the areas of sports facilities, helicopter platforms near health facilities, as well as practiced runs of aviation evacuation,” ​​he said at the meeting of the working group. 

In addition, flight safety measures have been developed – commercial flights over cities of the World Cup have been coordinated with the federal executive authorities and the centers of air traffic management system. The routes and places of water availability for the Be-200BC airplanes (for extinguishing fires) have been determined,” Aksyonov said.

In total, 62 aircraft are part of the World Cup security measures.

The Football World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15, 2018 in 11 cities of Russia. In each of them, the all-Russian system of public emergency notification (Oksion) operates. “Mock-ups scenarios are being practiced and the Oksion system will be working in Russian, English, Spanish, Arabic, German and French for the duration of the World Cup,” Aksyonov said.
