Russia to stop supplying NATO with AN-124


The Russian cargo airline Volga-Dnepr will stop providing NATO with AN-124 cargo planes, the French edition of Challenges reports with reference to its sources.

This was part of the project SALIS (Strategic Airlift International Solution),which was a joint venture of Ukrainian “Antonov Airlines” and Russian “Volga-Dnepr”, established in 2006. According to the publication, the Russians made this decision in response to  US sanctions.

An-124-100 “Ruslan” is the world’s largest cargo plane. “Ruslan” was developed in the 1980s in the Antonov Design Bureau (based in Ukraine) together with leading allied research institutes, enterprises, aviation industry organizations and ministries in the former USSR.
