Russian submarine escort spooks the Brits in Mediterranean Sea
Two Russian submarines escorted a British strike submarine of the “Astute” class, over a number of days, in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. According to preliminary information, the Russian submarines belong to the “Halibut” class and are based in the port of Tartus, Gazeta.Ru reports.
The situation further spooked the Brits when two frigates of the Russian Navy joined the escort of the British submarine on the surface.
In the West, Russian Navy submarines are called black holes due to the fact that they move very fast and are difficult to detect.
