GAZA, Palestine – Gazans mourned the death of 25-year-old Ahmed Arafa in Deir al-Balah on Wednesday, the day after he was killed during the ‘March of Return’ protests at the Gaza-Israel border.
Arafa was shot in the chest as he broke through the Gaza security fence.
Alongside thousands of mourners were armed militants, including the DFLP (Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine), of which Arafa was a member.
At least 16 Palestinians are believed to have been killed by Israeli troops, since the ‘March of Return’ rallies started last week. Israel has no figures and rejects suggestions that it uses excessive force.
Palestinian protesters are marching for what say is their right to return to homes which are now in Israel.
