The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has warned Russian ship and boat owners about a real risk of pirates, at the hands of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.
The Foreign Ministry has reminded of the seizure of the fishing vessel “Nord” in the Sea of Azov, and the subsequent illegal detention of its 10 crew, as well as the detention of the Trans Services Maritime vessel.
Nord crew are still detained – the Ukraine demand they renounce their Russian citizenship.
It is also noted that on April 25 the government of Ukraine banned the transit and transportation of cargo on Ukrainian territory by vessels flying the flag of Russia, as well as all vessels that have previously visited the port of Crimea (vessels from any country.)
“In connection with these provocative actions of the Ukrainian authorities against Russian vessels and citizens of the Russian Federation, the Russian Foreign Ministry draws the attention of ship companies to the real risks of piracy by Ukrainian security forces,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
