US, UK, France bombard Syria, Putin says international relations being destroyed


In the early morning of Saturday, April 14th, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France attacked Syria, firing what were, according to Syria’s General Staff, around 110 missiles at multiple civilian and military targets. Reports suggest that most of the missiles were successfully intercepted by Syrian air defenses.

According to RIA Novosti, Russian President Vladimir Putin has condemned the US and its allies’ attack on Syria as a violation of international law.

Putin stressed that the attack on Syria was carried out without the authorization of the UN Security Council, calling it “an act of aggression against a sovereign state which is on the frontline of the fight against terrorism.”

“With its actions, the US is wreaking suffering on the civilian population, thus abetting terrorists,” Putin said.

In addition, the Russian President remarked that Western countries have “cynically neglected to send OPCW experts to Syria” and launched a military campaign without waiting for the results of investigation into the alleged use of chemical weapons.

In Putin’s opinion, just like a year ago when the US attacked Shayrat airbase, so this time has it used the staged use of toxic substances against civilians as a pretext to attack Douma and Damascus.

Finally, President Putin stressed that the escalation of the situation around Syria is having a destructive effect on the entire system of international relations.

Russia has officially called for an emergency UN Security Council meeting to address the US’ aggression against Syria.
