Young Kemerovo rescuer offered job with Russia’s National Guard


The Office of Rosgvardia (National Guard) in the Kemerovo region is ready to welcome an employee of the “Winter Cherry” shopping center, Alexander Kalachev, as their newest recruit. During the fire, he led several families out of the danger zone, the ministry’s press service reported.

The fire in the four-story shopping center “Winter Cherry” in Kemerovo occurred on March 25. The fire was on the top floor, where there are several cinemas and children’s play areas. As a result of the fire, according to the latest information, 64 people died, including 41 children.

On Saturday awards were presented to the Kemerovo residents who rescued people during the fire. Among those awarded with a medal for “Valor and courage” was an employee of the mall, 21-year-old Alexander Kalachev.

“Alexander is yet to finish his studies and serve in the army, after which we we are happy to invite him to Rosgvardia, we need such people, ” reads the message from the regional administration.

“Alexander worked on the 3rd floor and could easily have run outside, but instead he ran to the fourth floor and brought several families out of the fire zone,” the Kuzbass Rosgvardia specified.
