DAMASCUS, Syria – The Syrian Army continues its impressive drive against ISIS in South Damascus and has liberated an entire pocket from the terrorist organization.
Two days ago, the situation looked like this:
The Syrian maintained pressure on ISIS in the southern part of the Al-Hajar al-Aswad district and has now captured the entirety of the pocket.
Despite this impressive advancement, the Syrian Army has not stopped its offensive today and continues to battle ISIS further north in South Damascus.
South Damascus is the terrorist groups final major stronghold in Syria with ISIS occupying other pockets in eastern Syria that contain smaller towns and mountaintops. The defeat of ISIS in South Damascus will effectively secure the city from terrorism with the last militant-held area having a truce with the Syrian government.
