BEIJING, China – Chinese President Xi Jinping honored Karl Marx’s 200th anniversary birthday during a commemorative event in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People on Friday.

Xi also said, “Writing Marxism onto the flag of the Chinese Communist Party was totally correct… Unceasingly promoting the sinification and modernisation of Marxism is totally correct.”
This became a hallmark for China’s first communist leader, Mao Zedong, who pushed for socialism with Chinese characteristics.
