Venezuelan authorities detain managers of largest private bank

The government of Venezuela has taken control of the largest private bank of the country Banesco for a period of 90 days after the detention of a group of its managers.

As was said in the communique of the Vice-President for Financial and Economic Affairs, Vilmar Castro Soteldo, such a step is taken to ensure the functioning of the bank and the provision of services in full.

Earlier, Venezuelan authorities detained 11 managers of Banesco, who are suspected of carrying out illegal operations with national currency, said Attorney General Tarek William Saab.

The first step of the government of the country in the introduction of external management of the bank was the appointment of an administrative council headed by the Deputy Minister of Finance of Venezuela.
