Volker guarantees his one-sided view: will visit DPR, LPR only after Ukraine eliminates them
He says they shouldn't exist, and pretends they don't
The US Special Envoy for Ukraine Volcker said he was ready to visit Donetsk and Lugansk only in case of the seizure of these cities by the APU forces. He stated this during a briefing in Slavyansk.
“I would like to visit Donetsk and Lugansk with great pleasure, when peace will be restored, and Ukrainian control will be restored, and it all will again become part of Ukraine,” he said.
Volcker added that he never recognizes the existence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. “What I do not want to do is give any reasons to legitimize the so-called people’s republics that should not have existed,” he summed up.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Volcker made acerbic statements about the People’s Republics of Donbass.
In March this year, he said that the states of the Donetsk Peoples Republic and the Lugansk Peoples Republic, created by Russia in the Donbass, must be eliminated, since they do not comply with the Constitution of Ukraine.
We recall, in late February, Volker said that Washington intends to engage in strengthening the defense capability of Ukraine so that Russia can not later conquer new territories of the country.
His recent tweet on the subject underscores his pretense that the people of the DPR and LPR do not exist. If people do not exist, you can’t make peace with them. For him, it is just Russia and Ukraine.
I came back to Donbas to hear more about the humanitarian consequences of Russian-aggression in eastern Ukraine. The fighting only hurts people on both sides of line. We’re pushing to end conflict and call on Russia to respond. The people deserve peace.
Further, from the Ukrainian source there is this clarification of his idée fixe that only Russia is involved:
“If Russia really wants to undo this conflict, it will decide to withdraw from the conflict, and take out its troops. If Russia makes such a decision. If it vetoes, it will mean that Russia is not interested in ending this war”
I can only conclude that, if Ukraine and the U.S. really wanted to end this conflict, they would deal with the actual other side in it, the republics that have declared their independence from Ukraine.
