The nationalists of Ukraine have demanded military force to resolve the conflict with one of the NATO countries. Bogdan Chervak, the head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and concurrently deputy head of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee of Ukraine, suggested using the Armed Forces of Ukraine to resolve political issues.
According to him, the Hungarian authorities stepped over a “red line” when they created the post of “Commissioner for Transcarpathian Region Issues.” Chervak regards this as interference in the affairs of Ukraine and proposes to solve the problem with the help of military force.
“We need decisive steps to show that Ukraine needs to be respected. Let’s say – to deploy combat units of the APU in the territory of Transcarpathia, ” the nationalist wrote in Facebook.
He also proposes to demand payment of moral and material compensation from Hungary for “crimes against the Carpathian Ukraine” committed in 1939.
It is worth noting that since 1999, Hungary is a full member of NATO. That is, in fact, a high-ranking Ukrainian nationalist official demanded declaring war on a military bloc.
Sharing the Tsargrad story, Novorosinform adds this background:
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed doubts about the realism of Ukraine’s aspirations to become a member of the EU and NATO, and also said that the Hungarian government intends to create the post of an authorized minister responsible for the development of the Transcarpathian region and a program for the development of kindergartens in the Carpathian Basin.
As a result of these statements, on July 31, 2018, Laszlo Pap, the Provisional Chargé d’Affaires of Hungary in Ukraine, was summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Today, Stepan Poltorak, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, discussed with the chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Moskal the possibility of deploying in the region a battalion of the 128th mountaineering assault brigade of the Armed Forces.
At the end of July, the State Border Service of Ukraine strengthened the personnel of nine units on the state border in the Transcarpathian region.
On June 5, the SBU initiated a charge of separatism against the Hungarian charitable foundation in Transcarpathia.
