Published on: Oct 24, 2018 @ 20:34 – In breaking news tonight, FRN reports that the Ukrainian forces for the first time have broken the ‘school’ ceasefire, and delivered an artillery strike on the south of the Donetsk People’s Republic. The ‘school’ ceasefire is a commitment from both parties not to engage during the start of the school year, to protect children. It is separate from what is supposed to be a general ceasefire, brokered in Minsk, which Ukraine has not implemented yet.

The breaking of the ceasefire and the exact nature of the attacks were announced by the head of the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of the cease-fire regime in Donbas Ruslan Yakubov.

He noted that the Ukrainian militants used 122-mm artillery shells and 120 mm mortars during the shelling.

“At 16: 00-16: 30, shelling from the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the directions of Shirokino-Sakhanka settlements was recorded: seven shells of 122-mm artillery were fired. In the direction of  Novo Tavriya six shells of 122 mm caliber were fired from artillery, ”he said.

According to the STsKK, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also opened fire on the areas of the villages of Sakhanka and Leninskoye from mortars. A total of 25 min were produced with a caliber of 120 and 82 mm.

It is noted that this is the first case of the use by the Ukrainian militants of heavy artillery shells in the shelling of the Donetsk People’s Republic during the last truce, which entered into force on August 29.

On the eve of the Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE, Alexander Lukashevich, said that the members of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine  recorded the transfer of 12 Buk missile systems to the Donbass 10 units of the Ural Shaped missile system.

We add that on October 9, the state enterprise Shepetovsky Repair Plant, which is part of the Ukroboronprom Group of Companies,  presented a new combat vehicle BM-21, UM Berest . It is noted that the new weapon is intended to replace the BM-21 “Grad”, which is in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
